The new golf course at the Wave development in Muscat, the capital of Oman, will open its first nine holes on 1 December. The course, designed by Greg Norman Golf Course Design, has been named Almouj Golf. “Oman will now emerge as one the favourite destinations for international golfers,” CEO Michael Lenarduzzi told the Oman Observer. “The opening of it will lay the foundation for the Sultanate to become a leading golf destination.” The second nine holes of the 7,300 course are expected to open in April 2012. A floodlit par three course is also part of the development.

About the Event: The Golf Club at Harbor Shores will celebrate the opening of its 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course by hosting a historic golf event featuring course designer and golf legend Jack Nicklaus with golf greats Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson and Johnny Miller on Aug. 10, 2010. Called Champions for Change, the foursome will play all 18 holes of the course in a skins format with rotating two-man teams. Following the golf, all four players will take part in An Evening for Champions at the Mendel Center Mainstage at Lake Michigan College. The roundtable discussion will give guests the opportunity to interact with the four legends as they discuss their past battles on the golf course, the state of the game of golf and how Harbor Shores will serve to revitalize the Benton Harbor community.

The Standard Club in Johns Creek, Georgia re-opened its member bar and dining rooms leading to an increase in food and beverage sales according to the club’s General Manager, Malcolm Stanchfield. Faced with a limited budget, and a need to improve the overall dining experience for both existing members and potential new members, the club partnered with clubhouse design firms Kuo Diedrich Architects (KDA) and Image Design Interiors to focus on those areas that were most frequented and visible to the whole family. The scope of work included remodelling the restrooms, the Casual Dining Room, Grill Room, and Bar & Lounge with new finishes and furniture, and an expansion of the exterior terraces outside the Grill Room and Bar & Lounge. The Standard Club remodel is an excellent example of keeping with KDA’s 21st Century Club concepts by creating both a family friendly and truly memorable dining experience.

The new Golf Clubhouse will be located in a stunning setting on the Gulf of Oman at the centre of the 18-hole Greg Norman Signature designed golf course. The iconic lighthouse and facilities at The Sea Pines golf resort have garnered acclaim over the years as being on the top golf destinations worldwide. Kuo Diedrich is working with The Sea Pines Resort on the golf clubhouse for the Harbour Town golf course, host of the Verizon Heritage Classic , a PGA Tour stop.

"Construction is expected to begin this fall on The Mix, a five-story brick-and-glass building in Virginia-Highland that will have shops, restaurants and residences. The $15 million project at 841 N. Highland Ave. is projected to be finished in early 2010, said Tonya Marlatt, managing partner of Land'ago Real Estate Advisors. The Mix will have 25,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, 12 condominiums on the top floors and a parking deck behind the building with 218 spaces. Kuo Diedrich Architects' Howard Kuo was invited as the guest lecturer to the School of Architecture at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. Mr. Kuo presented "Starting Your Own Firm: Real World Entrepreneurship" which chronicles strategies and case studies from the successful startup of Kuo Diedrich Architects. Students were also given tips to assist them during their education for their future careers. Afterwards, Kuo also provided critiques for Professor Shannon Massie Chance's studios.

Kuo Diedrich enjoys supporting local artists. Currently our office is presenting works from the talented sculpture artist AB Lovell. Lovell was born in Mobile, Alabama, in 1972. In 1990, Lovell enrolled at the University of Alabama, where he recieved a B.A. in Anthropology with a minor in Sculpture. Over the last twelve years Lovell's interest in art and culture, has led to travel in a number of countries including Spain, France, Turkey, Mexico, and Japan. Since moving to Atlanta in 1995 Lovell has worked as a mold maker for art and architectural applications and currently maintains a studio near the Castleberry Hills District of Atlanta, GA.
